Google has responded to Apple’s HealthKit with the announcement of its new health and fitness platform called Google Fit at its annual I/O developers conference. The Open API platform will utilize sensors on mobile devices and wearables via Google’s smartwatch to provide the consumer with a complete picture of their health and fitness.
Key partners announced include:
- Addidas
- ASUS
- HTC
- Intel
- LG
- Withing
- MIO
- Motorola
- Nike
- Noom
- Runtastic
- Runkeeper
- Polar
- Basis
Unlike Apple’s HealthKit, there were no partnerships with hospitals for integration. Some could view this as a short sighted mistep by Google. An official Google Fit SDK will launch in a few weeks.
