Project Lift Miami launches new digital health startup accelerator, a new resource for innovators, entrepreneurs, and startups in the digital health space.
Lift1428, an innovation design, strategy and communications firm, the Miami Innovation Center at the University of Miami Life Science & Technology Park and its developer, Wexford Science + Technology, and the UM Miller School of Medicine, have teamed up for Project Lift Miami, a new digital health focused startup seed accelerator in Miami.
The new Project Lift Miami seed accelerator is a 100 day program that offers classes to entrepreneurs and business innovators in the South Florida region, in addition to mentoring, strategic support and business development for new startups and entrepreneurs. They will select between 10-15 startups and entrepreneurs to participate in the first class, which starts in May. Each startup will receive between $20,000 and $30,000 in seed funding in cash and services in exchange for a small equity stake — and will be provided free office space at the research park. The program will run through August, closing with a Demo Day, where entrepreneurs present their businesses to potential investors.
The program’s foundation is a community of more than 150 health care entrepreneurs, inventors, investors and industry executives who are committed to helping build and grow new ideas within the health care arena.
“Through our affiliation with UM and Wexford, Project Lift will boast one of the largest rosters of mentors with health care expertise of any accelerator in America,” Chavez said. “Mentors will provide participating entrepreneurs with warm introductions, strategic guidance, and the tactile advice they need to get their ideas off the ground.”
Project Lift will offer one of the largest networks of health care, science, technology, analytics, design, and business professionals in the health care seed acceleration sector. Future Project Lift programs are under development at other Wexford facilities across America to leverage the intellectual capital from each knowledge community as well as the broader network of mentors in other cities.
