What You Should Know:

  • The Launch: Precision neurology company Rune Labs has launched StrivePD Guardian, a personalized AI companion designed to provide continuous, real-time support for people living with Parkinson’s disease.
  • Safety and Availability: The platform was built with clinical oversight, utilizing cautious language and built-in guardrails to urge patients to contact a clinician when high-risk symptoms arise. It is available now via the App Store for patients, with partner programs available for providers and payers.

Agentic Architecture

Unlike a general chatbot, StrivePD Guardian operates as an “agentic system.” User messages are automatically routed in real-time to specialized, domain-trained sub-agents, including a Medication Assistant, Symptom Expert, PD Coach, and Data Visualizer.

When a patient interacts with the app, the system automatically routes the query to a specialized, domain-trained sub-agent. If the patient asks about side effects, the “Medication Assistant” takes over. If the patient is struggling with their daily routine, the “PD Coach” steps in.

In traditional neurology, a Parkinson’s patient sees their specialist perhaps once every six months. During that 15-minute appointment, the patient is forced to rely on their memory to summarize half a year of complex, hourly symptom fluctuations. It is an incredibly inefficient way to titrate medication for a highly volatile disease.

StrivePD Guardian fundamentally alters this dynamic, the AI acts as a relentless, 24/7 observer through continuously analyzing wearable data alongside patient-journaled entries. When that six-month appointment finally arrives, the patient isn’t guessing how they felt in March; the AI has already synthesized the raw physiological data into a clear, clinically actionable report for the physician.

“People with Parkinson’s live with symptoms that change hour-to-hour,” said Amy Franzen, CEO of Rune Labs. “StrivePD Guardian provides support in those moments, translating continuous symptom changes into clearer understanding, better management, and more productive clinical visits.”
