What You Should Know:

–  Zoom Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZM) announced the release of AI Companion 3.0 at Zoomtopia 2025, its annual flagship conference.

–  This latest evolution introduces advanced agentic AI across Zoom Workplace and Business Services, transforming everyday interactions into actionable outcomes and reinforcing Zoom’s position as an AI-first collaboration platform.

Zoom Launches AI Companion 3.0 at Zoomtopia 2025, Bringing Agentic AI Across Its Ecosystem

Founded in 2011 and headquartered in San Jose, California, Zoom delivers an AI-first platform designed to foster human connection. With Zoom Workplace and its suite of Business Services—including Zoom Contact Center—the company empowers organizations to strengthen relationships and productivity across the entire customer journey. Zoom trades on NASDAQ under the symbol ZM.

“Conversations on Zoom often shape our customers’ most critical decisions,” said Eric S. Yuan, founder and CEO of Zoom. “With AI Companion 3.0, agentic AI is now able to understand context, priorities, and goals, allowing teams to focus on what matters most and drive meaningful results.”

AI Companion 3.0 functions as a dynamic layer across meetings, chat, phone, and third-party applications, combining enterprise knowledge with external market insights through context-aware search. Users gain access to deeper, synthesized information from transcripts, documents, and conversations while new AI note-taking extends beyond Zoom to in-person sessions and meetings on Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, and soon WebEx. Proactive capabilities—such as meeting preparation, workload optimization, group assistance, and real-time recommendations—minimize administrative burden and help prevent tasks from being overlooked.

The update also introduces a unified work surface within browsers and the Zoom Workplace desktop app. This adaptive hub consolidates information, recommends actions, and provides tailored writing and research support to accelerate polished, data-driven work. Complementary innovations include lifelike meeting avatars, automated video clip generation, and support for Model Context Protocol (MCP), enabling developers to configure tools and workflows for both customers and virtual agents. Enhanced real-time voice translation further strengthens cross-border collaboration, with independent benchmarking showing markedly higher accuracy than competing solutions.

To meet more specialized needs, organizations can now design and deploy Custom AI Companion agents using a low-code builder, complete with a library of tools and templates. Third-party agents can also be integrated via the new Agent2Agent (A2A) protocol. These capabilities will become generally available in November 2025 at no additional cost for paid Zoom Workplace plans, while the Custom AI Companion add-on is priced at $12 per user, per month.

Beyond collaboration, Zoom is applying agentic AI to its Business Services portfolio. Updates to its Customer Experience (CX) suite and Zoom Virtual Agent (ZVA) include Expert Assist for automating agent workflows, CX Insights for business intelligence, and Automated Quality Management for both human and virtual interactions. A new “bring your own voice” option in ZVA allows brands to maintain consistent and personalized customer engagement. In sales, Zoom Revenue Accelerator (ZRA) adds an AI-driven prospecting skill that identifies promising leads from event lists and databases, initiating tailored outreach across email, SMS, and scheduling channels.

These advancements are being showcased live at Zoomtopia on September 17 for the Americas and September 18 for APAC, EMEA, and Japan. Unless otherwise noted, the features are available to Zoom customers beginning today. Additional details, including Zoom’s new AI for Good initiative, are available in the Zoom newsroom.
