Talkiatry Launches New Couples Therapy Program, Expanding Access

What You Should Know:

– Talkiatry, a provider of high-quality, in-network psychiatry and therapy services announced the launch of its Couples Therapy program. The new offering marks Talkiatry’s continued commitment to expanding access to high-quality care and evolving its services to best meet the clinical needs of patients.

– The Couples Therapy program follows the recent launches of its child & adolescent psychiatry (CAP) and geriatric services, and the expansion of its postpartum depression care program.

Addressing the Impact of Relationship Problems on Mental Well-being

Relationship problems are recognized as the most common signals of acute emotional distress and have a significant impact on mental well-being. Partners in troubled relationships are more susceptible to mood, anxiety, and substance use disorders. These issues are widespread, with nearly half of first marriages in the U.S. ending in divorce. Today’s couples also have higher expectations and aspirations for their relationships, driving a growing demand for mental health services. Relationship-specific stressors and motivations indicate a heightened desire for more peace and understanding within relationships, leading to a projected 16% growth in employment rates for marriage and family therapists by 2033.

Talkiatry’s dedicated Couples Therapy program directly increases access to this necessary care. Couples therapy is available to patients already engaged in psychiatry services at Talkiatry, with referrals made from their psychiatric providers. Care teams at Talkiatry may include a psychiatrist or psychiatric nurse practitioner, and can evolve to include an individual therapist and couples therapist as needed, facilitating multidisciplinary team-based care that is more effective than siloed approaches.

Expert-Led, Integrated, and Accessible Mental Healthcare

Within Talkiatry’s network of over 600 full-time licensed psychiatrists and 150 therapists, all couples seeking care collaborate with a licensed marriage and family therapist, along with counselors and clinical social workers, ensuring high-quality couples counseling. Expert supervision and support are integrated into the therapeutic process.

To accommodate the unique needs of couples, initial therapy appointments are 60 minutes, with flexible follow-up sessions ranging from 30-45 minutes. Couples utilizing Talkiatry are covered by over 60 in-network providers, with most visits costing patients $30 or less after insurance (including copayment, deductible, and coinsurance, excluding no-shows and $0 payments).
