What You Should Know:

– TeleMed2U, a tele-specialty care company announced the acquisition of SIGMA Tactical Wellness, a company nationally recognized for its dedication to reducing cardiovascular risk among public safety personnel.

– The acquisition marks a first-of-its-kind integration, combining advanced cardiac risk detection with comprehensive virtual specialty treatment capabilities on a single platform. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

Combining Screening and Treatment for High-Risk Populations

The core strategy behind the acquisition is to incorporate SIGMA’s advanced cardiac risk screening capabilities into TeleMed2U’s extensive telehealth platform, which already boasts over 500 providers across 20 specialties. This creates a seamless care pathway – from screening and diagnosis through to virtual treatment and longitudinal management – specifically designed for high-risk and often underserved populations like first responders. This unified approach aims to improve health outcomes while also generating cost savings over time.

Expanding Virtual Cardiology and Whole-Person Care

This move significantly expands TeleMed2U’s Cardiology division and represents a major step in the company’s evolution towards delivering integrated, whole-person care. By bringing SIGMA’s proven screening model onto its platform, TeleMed2U plans to offer richer services to its existing patients and extend these capabilities to new audiences, including corporate wellness programs.

“This acquisition of SIGMA Tactical Wellness marks a major step forward in our organization’s evolution towards delivering whole-person care to those who need it most,” said AJ Patel, CEO of TeleMed2U. “By pairing SIGMA’s cutting-edge cardiac screenings with TeleMed2U’s comprehensive specialty telehealth services, we are able to offer tools that cover the complete continuum of care for high-risk populations like law enforcement officers and first responders.”

Patel added that the timing aligns with growing demand for preventive care and digital access, positioning TeleMed2U at the “leading edge of upstream cardiometabolic health interventions.”

Addressing Cardiovascular Risk in Public Safety

A primary focus of the acquisition is better serving the public safety sector, a group known to face elevated cardiovascular risks. SIGMA Tactical Wellness has specialized in providing advanced cardiac screening for this population.

Dr. Jon Sheinberg, SIGMA Co-founder, board-certified cardiologist, and active Texas police officer, emphasized the move beyond detection: “Several companies offer screening… However, the SIGMA/TeleMed2U partnership will now allow us to not only screen but also treat individuals who are identified as high-risk for a cardiovascular event, effectively reducing the impact of heart disease in our first responder population.”

Acquisition to Reduce Morbidity & Mortality Among First Responders

The combined entity expects this integrated approach to significantly reduce morbidity and mortality among first responders, leading to lower taxpayer expenses associated with healthcare costs and disability. Furthermore, improved health and access to care are anticipated to aid in the retention and recruitment efforts within the public safety sector. TeleMed2U views this acquisition as a strategic step in its omnichannel approach to whole-person care, potentially paving the way for future synergistic mergers.
