What You Should Know:
– Surescripts Health Information Network, a subsidiary of Surescripts®, today announced its designation as a Qualified Health Information Network® (QHIN) by the Recognized Coordinating Entity® (RCE®), The Sequoia Project, Inc.
– The designation allows Surescripts Health Information Network to facilitate nationwide health data exchange under the governance of the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) policies and technical requirements. Surescripts Health Information Network now joins a select group of other designated QHINs, forming a critical infrastructure for interoperability across the healthcare ecosystem.
QHIN Designation Benefits
With this QHIN designation, participants within the Surescripts Network Alliance—including electronic health records (EHRs) and other technology vendors, health plans, health systems, and pharmacies—now have the opportunity to connect to the Surescripts Health Information Network, acting as a QHIN, through InterconnectTM. This connection will enable seamless and secure exchange of health information on a national scale, fostering improved care coordination and patient outcomes.
“This QHIN designation underscores our purpose – advancing clinical intelligence sharing and amplifying our ability to collaborate and improve healthcare at a greater scale. Together, we’re going places in healthcare as we tackle our shared challenges – and simpler, trusted health intelligence sharing takes us there,” said Frank Harvey, Chief Executive Officer for Surescripts.
