What You Should Know:

– Johnson & Johnson MedTech introduces Polyphonic™, a groundbreaking digital ecosystem designed to revolutionize surgical collaboration and workflow.

– The open and secure platform offers a suite of software applications focused on delivering valuable insights exactly when and where surgeons need them.

Unlocking the Power of Surgical Video Data

The initial release of Polyphonic empowers surgeons and their teams with a variety of solutions centered around surgical video – a treasure trove of data often underutilized. Just one minute of surgical video holds a staggering amount of information, exceeding 25 times the data contained within a high-resolution CT scan [1]. Polyphonic tackles the challenge of managing, tagging, editing, and securely sharing de-identified surgical video data, fostering improved collaboration before, during, and after procedures.

Beyond Video: Telepresence and Planning Enhancements

Polyphonic extends its functionality beyond video with telepresence and case planning capabilities. These features address critical needs in surgical collaboration, enabling real-time remote consultations with specialists and streamlined operating room workflows through efficient case planning.

Early Adopters Pioneering the Future

Meander Medical Centre in Amersfoort, Netherlands, is already leveraging the benefits of Polyphonic in their surgeries as part of a selective beta program. This early adoption demonstrates the promise of this innovative ecosystem.

Building a Broader Digital Surgery Ecosystem

Future iterations of Polyphonic aim to expand the digital surgery landscape through the introduction of Polyphonic Studio and the Polyphonic Store.

Polyphonic Studio: Empowering Innovation

Polyphonic Studio fosters a secure environment for developers and creators. This platform equips them with data management tools, advanced analytics, edge computing functionalities, and developer toolkits. These resources streamline the creation and scaling of surgical software solutions, paving the way for a wave of surgical innovation. Polyphonic Studio will further integrate artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, leveraging Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s collaboration with NVIDIA to propel AI advancements in surgery.

Polyphonic Store: A Hub for Curated Solutions

The Polyphonic Store functions as a secure marketplace, offering curated software solutions from both Johnson & Johnson MedTech and third-party developers. This fosters an environment of open innovation within the Polyphonic ecosystem.

Limited Early Access

Currently, the Polyphonic ecosystem is only accessible to select hospitals participating in an early access program.

“Digital will revolutionize the future of surgery,” said Dr. Ivo Broeders[2], Surgeon and AI Lab Leader at Meander Medical Centre. “We proudly stand as pioneers in the digital realm and are excited to be testing this promising software solution. Together with Johnson & Johnson MedTech, we are shaping the future of surgical excellence and paving the way for transformative advancements in healthcare.”
