Digital Reasoning Acquires Mobile Clinical Documentation Platform Shareable

Digital Reasoning, a provider of cognitive computing technology, announced today it has acquired Nashville-based mobile clinical documentation platform Shareable (formerly known as Shareable Ink) for an undisclosed sum. As part of the acquisition, Hal Andrews, the CEO of Shareable, will now serve as president of Digital Reasoning’s health care business.

Shareable’s clinical documentation platform for structured and unstructured data capture and exchange provides a highly customizable and scalable iOS platform to interface with a provider’s existing workflows. The combination of Shareable’s platform that automates clinical data collection at the point of care with Digital Reasoning’s cognitive analytics capabilities will boost  the productivity of health professionals and the quality of care they provide by reducing the number of manual knowledge-intensive tasks, while providing a more comprehensive view of patients by aggregating patient data across healthcare information systems.

Digital Reasoning plans to integrate Shareable’s intellectual property and expertise in the area of mobile clinical data capture which includes:

Mobile Applications: Shareable’s native iOS applications deliver and capture clinical information on a range of computing devices, bundled with 3rd party mobile health solutions or as standalone applications.

Cloud-based Platform: Shareable’s cloud-based middleware platform enables the rapid design of electronic forms across a variety of formats, making it possible to transform paper-based workflows into digital data streams.

Clinical Systems Integration: Shareable’s experience in seamlessly integrating its solution with various market-leading Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems and clinical data warehouses, allowing for secure data exchange between on premise and cloud-based systems.

Launched in 2009 as Shareable Ink, the company initially offered a digital pen and paper solution for clinical data capture. Shareable’s success in automating paper-based clinical documentation quickly made it a leader serving the anesthesia community. It later re-branded as Shareable in 2015 and raised $3 million after raising  $10.7 million of convertible debt in 2013.

“Shareable’s focus on capture of structured and unstructured clinical data, easily extracted or exchanged for analysis, is valuable for clinicians, mobile health companies and EHR providers,“ explains Andrews. “Together with Digital Reasoning we will be able to analyze and understand vast amounts of electronic patient data such as doctor’s notes, lab results as well as pathology and radiology reports to provide meaningful clinical insights via intelligent assistants.”
