Blueprint Health Showcases Its Fifth Class at Demo Day in NYC

Blueprint Health, a NYC based mentor-focused health technology accelerator today announced the showcase of their Summer 2015 class of startups at their eight annual Demo Day in NYC. The Summer 2015 Accelerator class is composed of eight new companies solving a diverse set of problems in the healthcare industry from preventing hospital readmissions through geolocation (Position Health) to providing point of service lending to patients with high deductible health plans (Crediyo), and allowing physicians to seamlessly bill for chronic care management services (Oculus Health). Founders of the summer class come from a diverse background and brought a wealth of experience, including successful entrepreneurs, five MDs/PhD’s and three teams made of international founders.

Alumni Updates

To date, 87% of Blueprint’s companies are still in operation and 85% of those companies are generating revenue.  Blueprint also supports the largest structured mentor network in the digital health space, with over 180 senior level health executives providing mentorship and support to companies in the portfolio.

Other portfolio updates include:

– After closing a $4M Series A, Procured Health is growing quickly, having signed 5 clients in the past two months and growing their team to almost 40 people.

– Health Recovery Solutions has signed Johns Hopkins and the VNA of NJ as clients adding to a marquee list.

– iMedicare has grown to a team of almost 25 and is being used in nearly 5,000 pharmacies across the US.

– BoardVitals is now available in over 150 residency programs / institutions and is the most widely adopted board review question bank in the country.

– CredSimple closed a Series A round with Bowery Capital.

– Healthify is growing incredibly rapidly after signing six clients including UnitedHealthcare.

Here is a look at Blueprint Health’s graduating 8th class:

Bind Health – Make Informed Prenatal Genetic Testing Decisions

Bind simplifies genetic testing for consumers by allowing them to discover, compare and order genetic tests online. Users can review genetic tests curated for their medical profile and state of residence, as well as get pre-and post-test genetic counseling. Bind also provides testing companies the infrastructure to market tests online and charges a referral fee for each test ordered. Bind Health charges clients $100 per session. They are live and have already preformed genetic counseling sessions for clients.

Crediyo – Making Healthcare Affordable

Crediyo_Blueprint Health Showcases 8th Class of Startups

Crediyo helps patients pay for their out of pocket medical expenses (e.g. their deductible) by giving them access to completely customized, low interest credit products at the point of service. Additionally, Crediyo pre-funds healthcare providers on behalf of their patients, giving medical practices immediate access to cash flow. Crediyo’s analytics platform allows medical practices to identify and evaluate all patients’ propensity to pay -even those with limited credit histories. Overall, Crediyo creates a retail-like pricing, billing, and credit experience at the point of service, where prices are transparent, patients are rewarded with discounts for positive repayment behavior, and providers collect more.

HIPAAfix provides a comprehensive “HIPAA-in-a-box” solution for small physician practices. We automate compliance with HIPAA regulations, turning an expensive consulting problem into a simple software enabled service. Features include data protection, friendly and intuitive training, and automated creation of forms and documentation.

MedPilot – Simplifying the Financial Experience

High deductible health plans are causing patient out-of-pocket costs to skyrocket, forcing healthcare providers to collect larger amounts of revenue from patients. Traditional debt collectors decrease patient satisfaction and yield low recovery rates. MedPilot contracts with healthcare providers to help patients resolve their outstanding bills before being sent to debt collections. Their platform and network of patient navigators facilitates payments to providers by offering billing discounts, customizable payment plans, and advocacy services to patients. They reduce revenue cycle friction, increase self-pay reimbursement, boost patient satisfaction, and free up time for billing staff to collect insurance reimbursements.

Oculus Health – CCM platform that connects providers with patients

Oculus Health_Blueprint Health Showcases 8th Class of Startups

Oculus Health helps medical practices deliver care for chronic conditions outside of the clinic, facilitating contact between patients and providers between office visits. Using the Oculus Health platform physician providers in office based settings are able to bill for the new chronic care management code, CPT 99490. The Oculus platform offers physicians an offsite care team of medical assistants and nurses who call patients and provide chronic care management services as directed by the patient’s care plan. They have already enrolled over 200 patients from their first two customers. Oculus allow each provider to generate on average an additional $200k in annual revenue.

Position Health – Improving continuity of care, reducing re-admissions and redundant testing

Position Health_Blueprint Health Showcases 8th Class of Startups

Position  Health  uses  a  simple  smartphone  application,  downloaded  at the  time  of discharge,  to  notify  providers  when  a  prior patient  arrives  at an  emergency  room anywhere  in  the  country. The Position Health solution allows providers and hospitals to intervene before important ER decisions   are made, preventing unnecessary re-admissions and testing. The Position Health approach requires no integration with EMRs and is simple to implement.

Psocratic – Enhancing Wellness and Increasing Productivity
