The medical professionals that use the Practice Fusion EHR will now have access to the latest medication information and recommended dosages when they e-prescribe medications to patients.
Integration Details
The integration of the Medi-Span database into the Practice Fusion EHR will help ensure that providers using the Practice Fusion EHR have the latest information on therapeutics, including newly approved medications. Medi-Span content also provides pre-configured prescription medication orders for more than 5,000 of the most common prescriptions, enabling e-prescribing providers to more easily enter prescriptions, while helping to reduce medication prescription errors.
Providers save time by getting relevant and up-to-date prescription medication information directly through the Practice Fusion EHR, and patients can get the right medication they need. Clinical decision support interventions through Medi-Span drug-drug and drug-allergy checks offer real-time alerts to providers about possible drug interactions that could otherwise affect their patients’ health.

“Patients have over 2 million adverse reactions each year leading to over 2,000 deaths from drug interactions. By integrating with Medi-Span, we can help ensure that doctors not only have the last approved medications and their side effects, but also that they are quickly alerted while they are writing a prescription about any potential adverse reactions that may harm their patients,” said Ryan Howard, founder and CEO, Practice Fusion in a statement. “This service is live and impacting more than four million prescriptions written by doctors using Practice Fusion’s EHR platform each month.”
