Kaiser Permanente Joins DreamIt Health for Third Class of Health IT Startups

Health IT accelerator, DreamIt Health has added Kaiser Permanente to its prestigious list of partners for the launch of their Baltimore class of health IT startups. Kaiser Permanente will join the incubator’s leadership team, alongside existing partners Johns Hopkins University, Northrop Grumman Corporation and BioHealth Innovation.

The selected startups will work with selected mentors and leading industry practitioners over a four month period with potential pilot opportunities to help reduce risk and accelerate product-market fit. Each startup will receive up to $50,000 stipend in exchange for eight percent equity in their company.

The nine selected startups in DreamIt Health Baltimore 2014 third class are:

  • Aegle (Baltimore) – Wearable biometric devices
  • Avhana (Baltimore) – Next-generation clinical decision support for the electronic health record
  • Cognuse (Talinn, Estonia) – Cognitive rehabilitation of stroke and traumatic brain injury patients through mobile games
  • EMOCHA (Baltimore) – Mobile capture of data for medication adherence and clinical trials
  • Protenus (Baltimore) – Digital management of patient consent and other administrative workflows
  • Respi (Athens, Greece) – Smartphone-based spirometry and respiratory data platform
  • Patient Feed – (Pittsburgh and New York City): Collaboration tool for inpatient care
  • Phobious (Barcelona, Spain) – Treatment of behavioral health issues through mobile, augmented reality
  • The Smartphone Physical (Baltimore) – Integration and distribution of clinically-relevant mobile health devices
