Population health management is one of the hottest sectors in the health IT space and vendors are quickly racing to carve out market share. But with so many PHM vendors and very little data, healthcare providers are having a hard time identifying who are the current leaders in this space.

The latest KLAS report, entitled Population Health Management 2013: Scouting the PHM Roster, attempts to make sense of and define the various PHM strategies and solutions for providers.

To get an early perspective on a still growing crowd, KLAS interviewed 78 providers about their use of 23 vendors. Vendors included have a combination of mindshare and customers, but few have enough live sites to produce a formal KLAS rating for their products. KLAS placed vendors into one of three categories — Early Leader, Proven Potential, and Emerging Stories — based on the following criteria:

  • What types of solutions are available?
  • What are the strengths and weaknesses of vendor approaches?
  • Which vendors have an opening lead in portfolio breadth, experience depth, and ability to deliver?

In the report, KLAS ranked Wellcentive as an “Early Leader” for their vendor-agnostic cloud based platform that seamlessly aggregating and normalizing data from a multitude of electronic health records, practice management systems, health information exchanges, payers and other data systems into a comprehensive and actionable PHM solution.

To purchase the report, visit KLAS online at www.KLASresearch.com/reports and view Population Health Management 2013: Scouting the PHM Roster. The report is available to healthcare providers and vendors.

Providers receive a significant discount off the standard retail price or can receive a complimentary summary report in exchange for a survey about one of their current vendors.
