HealthEx Unveils TEFCA-Accredited HealthEx Wallet & Partners with Sharecare to to Ground AskMD in Whole-Health Clinical Context

What You Should Know

  • Consumer health data platform HealthEx has launched an integration connector for Muse, Meta’s new personal AI agent, letting U.S. users connect their verified longitudinal health records directly to the AI tool.
  • Resolves the primary limitation of consumer healthcare AI: operating without personal medical context, which leads to generic recommendations and ungrounded chat responses.
  • Built on HealthEx’s role as an Individual Access Services (IAS) provider under the federal Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), allowing automated retrieval of clinical histories across clinics, hospital networks, and diagnostic laboratories nationwide.
  • Governed through the HealthEx Wallet, a patient-facing web application that lets individuals view consolidated records, identify missing data sources, grant explicit granular sharing permissions to Muse, and revoke access at any time.

Using TEFCA Individual Access to Feed Consumer AI

HealthEx operates as an Individual Access Services (IAS) provider under the federal Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA). Once a consumer completes identity verification, the platform automatically locates clinical records across participating regional health systems, community clinics, and specialty networks nationwide.

Through the browser-based HealthEx Wallet, individuals maintain granular, auditable control over their clinical data:

  • Granular Consent & Site-Level Filtering: Users choose which health systems and care encounters are ingested, see every active third-party connection, and can revoke AI access at any time.
  • Pre-Action Approvals: The connector enforces strict permission boundaries. Before Muse performs an action—such as setting a prescription refill reminder, generating an appointment follow-up task, or drafting a portal message to a physician—it must present the plan to the user for explicit review and approval.
  • Closing Post-Visit Care Loops: Rather than generating abstract medical advice, Muse analyzes physician notes, discharge summaries, and medication orders to surface uncompleted care tasks, such as unscheduled specialist referrals, pending lab work, or approaching medication expirations.
  • Single Reusable Connection: Individuals who have already retrieved records into HealthEx Wallet can route data into Muse with a single authorization, bypassing patient portal logins or manual medical record uploads.

“So much of what falls through the cracks in medicine is routine, like a follow-up a doctor asked for that was never scheduled. Individuals have always carried that burden. Muse now helps people make real progress on health goals with a plan that adapts to their life,” said Dr. Priyanka Agarwal, co-founder and CEO of HealthEx and former practicing internist at UCSF. “A person’s muse can work from their own records through HealthEx, including what their doctor recommended at the last visit, and help them follow through. Individuals always stay in control, deciding what to share and when to stop.”

Availability

Muse is available across iOS, Android, and web platforms in the United States. Users can activate the connector directly within their HealthEx Wallet settings to authorize data flow into their personal agent.
