Household Pricing, Free Generics, and Pet Inclusions
The new membership builds on the standalone GoodRx Companion subscription introduced earlier this year, expanding coverage across children, adult dependents, and household pets without age restrictions.
The plan is priced at $24.99 per month (or $16.99 per month billed annually) and covers a primary member plus up to four dependents.
Core benefits across the subscription include:
- Zero-Dollar Generic Medications: Free access to more than 250 common generic medications and hundreds more capped under $10 across retail pharmacy networks nationwide.
- Full-Household Inclusion: Extends drug savings to pet prescriptions—such as antibiotics, heartworm prevention, and chronic pain medications—which are traditionally excluded from commercial health plan formularies.
- Integrated Outpatient Savings: Discounts on routine vision, dental, clinical laboratory testing, and diagnostic imaging services, alongside access to $19 virtual urgent care visits for the primary subscriber.
Enterprise B2B Distribution via Employer Direct
Beyond direct-to-consumer signups, GoodRx plans to distribute the Companion Family Plan through GoodRx Employer Direct. This channel allows self-insured employers and benefit sponsors to subsidize memberships for their workforces. The offering serves two strategic enterprise roles: functioning as a supplemental carve-out to soften high-deductible prescription costs, or acting as an affordable healthcare bridge for part-time, seasonal, or gig workers who are ineligible for traditional major medical benefits.
“Families don’t experience healthcare costs one person at a time. They’re simultaneously managing prescriptions and care for kids, parents, partners, and even pets,” said Wendy Barnes, President and CEO of GoodRx. “Expanding Companion across the entire household allows us to support consumers in a way that reflects this reality. It also advances our strategy to make GoodRx a more central part of how consumers navigate and pay for healthcare”.
Strategic Rationale: Retail Pharmacy Economics and LTV Expansion
The expansion reflects a strategic transition for GoodRx, moving from one-off point-of-sale discount coupons toward high-retention annual subscription models.
For retail pharmacy partners, the subscription design aims to drive consistent prescription foot traffic and medication adherence without imposing additional network participation fees or eroding retail dispensing economics. The family plan also complements GoodRx’s condition-specific direct-to-consumer pathways in weight management, hair loss, and men’s health.
