OpenAI’s ARC Collaboration Inks First International Hospital Deal with Sheba

The global healthcare ecosystem, enterprise medical informatics, and hospital operational management sectors are entering a new phase of AI adoption. While health systems have experimented with point-solution LLMs for ambient scribing or simple administrative tasks, broad clinical adoption has been limited by concerns over evidence verification, hallucination risks, and data privacy.

Clinicians spend significant time navigating fragmented EHR interfaces, searching through siloed clinical databases, and completing documentation. Without an enterprise-grade reasoning layer capable of synthesizing peer-reviewed literature alongside internal health system protocols, clinical decision support remains slow and disconnected.

To solve workflow fragmentation and build the operational infrastructure for a fully AI-powered hospital, Sheba Medical Center has announced a collaboration with OpenAI. Driven by the ARC (Accelerate, Redesign, Collaborate) innovation arm, the agreement marks OpenAI’s first international deployment of ChatGPT for Healthcare across a complete hospital network.


Evidence Synthesis and ARC Ecosystem Integration

The deployment embeds OpenAI’s specialized models into Sheba’s clinical, research, and operational workflows:

  • Evidence-Grounded Clinical Search: Synthesizes millions of peer-reviewed journal papers and public health guidelines, attaching direct citations (journal name, authors, and publication dates) to every generated output.
  • Institutional Knowledge Ingestion: Connects Sheba’s approved care pathways, diagnostic protocols, and administrative policies directly into the workspace via Role-Based Access Controls (RBAC).
  • Bidirectional R&D Feedback Loop: Sheba receives early API access to OpenAI’s newest foundation models (e.g., GPT-5 class engines) while providing real-world clinical feedback to refine future healthcare AI models.
  • Enterprise Security Architecture: Operating under zero-data retention policies where patient information is never used to train OpenAI’s base models, meeting enterprise healthcare security and regulatory standards.
