Ambience Healthcare Appoints Dr. Michael Han as CMO to Lead Clinical AI Strategy
Dr. Michael Han, Chief Medical Officer at Ambience Healthcare

What You Should Know

  • Ambience Healthcare has appointed Dr. Michael Han, MD, MBA, as its first Chief Medical Officer (CMO) to lead clinical strategy and platform expansion.
  • Dr. Han previously served as Enterprise Chief Medical Information Officer (CMIO) at MultiCare Health System and held surgical leadership roles at Providence and Pacific Medical Centers.
  • Dr. Han is board certified in both urology and clinical informatics, bringing over two decades of experience in health IT and large-scale EHR deployments.

The clinical AI market is rapidly shifting away from “point solutions” toward integrated platforms that can handle the full complexity of health system operations. Ambience Healthcare has signaled its intent to lead this transition by appointing Dr. Michael Han as its Chief Medical Officer. Dr. Han, a dual-board-certified surgeon and informaticist, joins the company at a critical juncture as it expands its footprint from ambient documentation into a broader system of intelligence designed to rethink clinical workflows and revenue integrity at scale.

Dr. Han’s background is uniquely suited for this mandate. Having served as the Enterprise CMIO for MultiCare Health System, he has firsthand experience managing the friction between high-tech AI tools and the daily realities of an integrated delivery network. His appointment reflects Ambience’s commitment to building clinical infrastructure that is not just technically sophisticated but deeply aligned with the operational and financial goals of large academic medical centers and health systems.

Expanding Clinical Intelligence Beyond the Exam Room

Under Dr. Han’s leadership, Ambience is moving beyond the “digital scribe” model to embed AI-generated intelligence across the entire care continuum. This includes real-time revenue integrity, where the platform captures the full complexity of care to ensure accurate and durable financial performance. Ambience aims to restore clinician presence in the exam room while simultaneously automating the administrative “back office” by integrating these capabilities directly into major EHRs across outpatient, emergency, and inpatient settings.

This system-wide redesign also touches on care orchestration and clinical research. Dr. Han will partner with product and commercial teams to ensure these solutions deliver measurable outcomes, grounding the company’s multi-year roadmap in the practical needs of clinicians and health system administrators.

A Physician-Leader Focused on Trust and Scale

Dr. Han’s academic pedigree—including an MD from the University of Michigan and an MBA from The Wharton School—further bridges the gap between clinical excellence and business discipline. As CMO, Dr. Han will be responsible for ensuring that Ambience’s technology remains clinically meaningful as it scales to support more than 200 specialties. His role is to move AI from the periphery of care to the center of the clinical infrastructure, ensuring that every patient interaction and every care setting is supported by a continuous layer of intelligence. This shift is designed to help health systems under mounting pressure to achieve higher performance without increasing the burden on their workforce.
