Sword Intelligence Launches in UK and Europe with AI-Led Care Operations Platform

What You Should Know

  • The Launch: Sword Intelligence has officially launched in the UK and Europe. Born from the global digital health unicorn Sword Health, this new entity focuses on applying AI to operational bottlenecks like triage, scheduling, and care coordination.
  • The Scale: The company is already deploying one of Europe’s first AI-powered healthcare “front doors” in Greece, aiming to manage triage and coordination for a national population of 10 million citizens.
  • The Pedigree: Backed by Sword Health’s experience with 22 million patients and recent M&A activity (including the $285M acquisition of Kaia Health), the UK team is led by veteran NHS innovators Dr. Mark Ratnarajah and Selina Sachar.

Automating the “Front Door”

The company’s flagship proof-of-concept is massive. Sword Intelligence is currently supporting the development of a national-scale AI “front door” in Greece.

  • The Scope: 10 million citizens.
  • The Function: Integrating AI into triage and care coordination to route patients to the right care instantly.

If they can replicate this model in the UK, it could fundamentally change how patients interact with the NHS. Instead of getting lost in phone queues or paper referrals, patients would interact with “bespoke, responsible AI agents” that handle the scheduling, follow-up, and triage non-clinical workflows.

The “Modular” Approach

Heading up the UK partnership strategy is Selina Sachar, who emphasizes that the platform is designed to be “modular.” “UK healthcare providers are engaging with us to understand how we can co-create practical solutions,” Sachar noted. By building AI that integrates directly into existing Electronic Patient Records (EPR) and adheres to strict data sovereignty standards, Sword aims to upgrade the NHS infrastructure without ripping it out.
