Salvo Health Raises $8.5M by Saving Independent GI Practices, Not Replacing Them

What You Should Know

  • The Funding: Salvo Health has raised an $8.5M Series A led by ManchesterStory, City Light Capital, and Threshold Ventures, following a breakout year where revenue grew by 800%.
  • The Model: Unlike direct-to-consumer telehealth apps that compete with local doctors, Salvo has signed 16% of all independent U.S. gastroenterologists to its platform, acting as a “wraparound” support layer for existing clinics.
  • The Impact: The hybrid model—combining AI with human dietitians and behavioral health experts—has resulted in a 79% drop in GI-related ER utilization, proving that tech-enabled specialty care can drastically lower costs.

The “glue” for a Fragmented System

Gastrointestinal (GI) issues affect 100 million Americans, yet the specialty is plagued by shortages and fragmentation. A patient might see a GI doctor for 15 minutes, but lack the ongoing support for diet, stress management, and medication adherence that chronic conditions like IBS or Celiac require.

Salvo fills that void. It offers a “wraparound” Continuous Care Platform that integrates with the physical clinic.

  • The Scale: Salvo has already signed agreements with 801 GIs, representing 16% of the independent market.
  • The Team: The platform gives patients access to an interdisciplinary team—Registered Dietitians, behavioral health specialists, and nurses—that most independent clinics cannot afford to staff full-time.
