What You Should Know

– Amazon Pharmacy has officially added Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy® pill—the first and only FDA-approved oral GLP-1 for weight management—to its nationwide delivery platform.

– To lower barriers to care, Amazon is offering a transparent cash-pay option starting at $149 per month for those without insurance, while eligible commercially insured customers may pay as little as $25.

The Oral Shift: Removing the Needle Barrier

The “Wegovy pill” represents a massive clinical and logistical shift in the obesity market. For millions of patients, the transition from a weekly injection to a daily oral tablet reduces the psychological and physical friction associated with GLP-1 therapy.

Amazon Pharmacy is leveraging its logistical backbone to ensure this transition is seamless:

  • Side-by-Side Pricing: Customers can view insurance and cash-pay prices simultaneously, with manufacturer coupons automatically applied at checkout.
  • Hyper-Local Access: While delivery is available in all 50 states, Same-Day Delivery is now accessible to nearly half of U.S. customers.
  • The Kiosk Expansion: In the coming weeks, Amazon will launch Pharmacy Kiosks, providing a physical touchpoint for prescription pickup alongside its digital-first model.

The Ecosystem Play: One Medical and 9amHealth

Amazon isn’t just delivering the drug; it is building a “closed-loop” clinical experience. For patients seeking a diagnosis or long-term management, Amazon One Medical provides personalized evaluations and evidence-based treatment plans tailored to individual health goals.

Furthermore, Amazon is expanding its reach through high-profile collaborations with:

  • WeightWatchers: To integrate clinical weight loss treatments with lifestyle support.
  • Wheel & 9amHealth: To widen the net of digital health companies capable of prescribing and managing these high-value therapies.

“Amazon Pharmacy is focused on making it easier for customers to access the latest innovations in weight loss care,” said Tanvi Patel, Vice President and General Manager of Amazon Pharmacy. “By offering Wegovy® through both insurance and a straightforward cash-pay option, we’re giving people more choice, greater transparency, and fewer barriers to care.”
