What You Should Know:

– InterSystems, a creative data technology provider powering over 1 billion health records worldwide, announced the launch of the InterSystems HealthShare AI Assistant.

– The new generative AI capability is designed to assist clinicians, case managers, and administrators in accessing and understanding patient information faster and more intuitively.

Generative AI: The New Conversational Interface for Health Records

Built on the trusted foundation of the InterSystems HealthShare Unified Care Record (UCR), the HealthShare AI Assistant introduces a conversational interface. This allows users to securely query, summarize, and navigate complex longitudinal health records using natural language prompts. The AI Assistant queries records from thousands of diverse clinical data sources, leveraging Generative AI to surface relevant insights and present information using industry-standard displays.

Key capabilities include:

  • Conversational Chat Interface: Enables users to ask clinical questions or request patient summaries in plain language, delivering concise, context-aware insights instantly.
  • Source Traceability: Promotes transparency and clinical trust by connecting every AI-generated response directly to its verified record source.
  • Seamless Integration: Operates entirely within the HealthShare Clinical Viewer and Navigation Application, remaining embedded in the user’s natural workflow.
  • Comprehensive Governance: Supports safe and responsible AI use with configurable data profiles, role-based access controls, and full audit tracking.
  • Pre-Built and Custom Prompts: Offers clinically curated starter prompts while allowing organizations to build tailored, role-based configurations.

Proven Efficiency Gains in Real-World Settings

Pilot programs for the HealthShare AI Assistant have already demonstrated meaningful gains in efficiency and user satisfaction. A usability study conducted with Healthix, one of the largest public health information exchanges in the United States, showed quantifiable improvements:

  • The AI Assistant quantitatively improved clinician workflow.
  • It reduced time spent reviewing records.
  • It surfaced useful and actionable insights.

Todd Rogow, CEO at Healthix, confirmed the value: “With HealthShare AI Assistant, our clinician users now have a tool to get an instant, clinically validated summary drawn from years of records, delivering a holistic view of a patient’s medical history at time of care.”

The new AI capability is available immediately to HealthShare users in supported regions.
