Teladoc Health Launches Wellbound Employee Assistance Program

What You Should Know:

– Teladoc Health announced a new offering within its Clarity™ monitoring solution designed to help hospitals and health systems actively address workplace violence.

– The capability uses AI-enabled software, hardware, and services to empower care teams with early intervention resources, expanding beyond Clarity’s existing virtual sitting use cases.

The Growing Threat to Healthcare Workers

Workplace violence is a persistent and escalating challenge facing hospitals across the U.S.. Data reveals the severe scope of the problem:

  • More than 80% of nurses report having experienced workplace violence.
  • Nearly half of nurses say that violence has increased in recent years.
  • Healthcare workers are five times more likely to experience workplace violence compared to employees in other industries.

In addition to the human cost, workplace and community violence imposes a substantial financial burden on hospitals, exceeding $18B annually.

AI-Powered Early Intervention

Teladoc Health’s new workforce safety capability is purpose-built to transform passive monitoring into active, real-time intervention. Unlike traditional, reactive tools like panic buttons or human vigilance, this solution utilizes artificial intelligence to identify escalating incidents.

The AI-enabled software works by analyzing video and audio clues to:

  • Detect aggressive language.
  • Analyze facial expressions and sense threatening gestures.
  • Actively identify specific safety risks, such as a person aggressively stepping into a nurse’s space or tampering with medical equipment.

As an incident escalates, the solution provides intelligent, timely notifications to the appropriate care teams and staff, enabling early intervention.

Commercial Rollout

The new workforce safety capability will be implemented with select hospitals and health systems in Q1 2026 as part of Teladoc Health’s partner development program. This deployment marks a major step toward creating safer environments that protect care teams, patient well-being, and health system operations.
