What You Should Know:

– Seven Starling, a virtual provider of women’s behavioral health services secures $8M in Series A funding led by Rethink Impact. The round includes participation from insiders Pear VC, Zeal Capital Partners, Magnify Ventures, Ulu Ventures, Expa, Fiore Ventures, the March of Dimes, Rogue Women’s Fund, and Graham & Walker.

– The investment will accelerate the company’s national expansion of its maternal mental health platform.

Maternal Mental Health

Perinatal mood and anxiety disorders affect one in five women, making them the most common complication of childbirth. Despite this, 75% of diagnosed women never receive treatment due to systemic barriers like provider shortages, insurance limitations, and geographic access challenges. Untreated conditions cost the U.S. healthcare system $14 billion annually, and suicide is the leading cause of maternal death in the first year postpartum.

Seven Starling’s platform aims to address these issues by providing specialized mental health services for women during fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, and early parenthood. The company’s expansion plans include reaching over 30 states by the end of 2026, building on its current operations in 18 states with partnerships with over 1,500 OBGYNs.

Proven Clinical Model

Seven Starling’s model has demonstrated strong clinical outcomes, with 90% of patients showing a significant reduction in depression symptoms after completing the program. The platform provides rapid access to care, with an average time of one day to the initial consultation and care team match, compared to an industry average of five weeks. Additionally, 96% of patients use in-network coverage, and 40% are accessing mental health care for the first time.

Technology Stack

The company’s technology-enabled infrastructure includes automated patient screening, one-click referrals, and direct EMR integrations. This technology automates critical administrative functions such as insurance verification and personalized care team assignment, removing traditional barriers to care. The platform’s AI capabilities handle administrative workflows, allowing licensed clinicians who are specifically trained in perinatal mental health to focus on delivering individual and group therapy, as well as medication management.

“We’ve built technology to solve the operational challenges that typically create friction in healthcare delivery,” said Sophia Richter, COO and Co-Founder of Seven Starling. “Our platform’s ability to seamlessly integrate with existing provider workflows while automating complex processes like revenue cycle operations is what enables us to scale specialized care nationwide.”
