Medable Launches Agent Studio, the First Agentic AI Platform for Life Sciences

What You Should Know:

– Medable, a technology provider for clinical development, has launched Agent Studio, which it calls the industry’s first agentic AI platform purpose-built for life sciences.

– Agent Studio is a no-code agent-builder that allows clinical teams to quickly custom-configure AI agents. Medable also introduced CRA Agent, a pre-built agent designed for clinical trial monitoring that runs on the Agent Studio platform. Both Agent Studio and CRA Agent are intended to drive new efficiencies and remove bottlenecks that hinder scientific advancement.

Eliminate Bottlenecks and Accelerate Development

Despite decades of innovation, clinical development is still constrained by operational inefficiencies that slow progress. The company notes that new drugs spend about 45% of their development time in “white space”—the unproductive time between trial phases. Agent Studio is designed to remove this white space and other longstanding bottlenecks in trial processes.

Agent Studio is an expansion of Medable’s platform for eCOA, decentralized trial execution, and AI-driven study design. Key advantages of the new platform include:

  • Human-in-the-loop oversight to ensure transparency and control.
  • Alignment with life sciences standards, including standard operating procedures and regulatory and validation requirements.
  • Seamless integration across life science systems (e.g., Veeva EDC, IRT, CTMS) and enterprise platforms (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft, Gmail).

Dr. Michelle Longmire, CEO and co-founder of Medable, stated that Agent Studio is “more than just technology—it’s a catalyst to unleash greater human potential in life sciences”. The platform aims to free teams from the bottlenecks of legacy systems, accelerate trials, reduce costs, and ultimately help bring medicines to patients faster. Medable believes this is a “once-in-a-generation leap forward in how clinical research gets done”.

The CRA Agent and the “1:1:1” Vision

CRA Agent is the first of Medable’s pre-built agents. It aggregates and summarizes data across systems, supports human-in-the-loop oversight, and automates routine monitoring and communication. With CRA Agent, clinical research associates are freed to focus on what matters most.

The development of Agent Studio is informed by Medable’s expertise in clinical research and insights from researchers, trial operators, and regulators. It brings the industry closer to Medable’s “1:1:1” vision: one-day study start, one-day patient recruitment, and one-year study conduct, with the goal of getting effective therapies to people faster.
