What You Should Know:

– Barti Software, a AI-powered company that provides innovative electronic health records (EHR) and practice management software built for eye care practices, announced a $12 million Series A investment led by Five Elms Capital.

– This partnership will enable Barti to scale its go-to-market efforts, grow its team across key functions, and accelerate development of new AI capabilities and workflow automation as Barti expands into ophthalmology. The company will also continue expanding its integrated features to drive greater efficiency for practices and solidify its position as the complete solution for modern eye care.

Barti Revolutionizes Eye Care with AI-Powered Practice Management

Co-founded by optometrist Dr. Kelly Cai, Barti was built to solve the pain points of eye care practitioners by unifying clinical, operational, and financial workflows into one seamless operating system. The platform reduces reliance on multiple systems, minimizes administrative burden, and restores focus on what matters most: patient care.

Eye care practices today face increasing pressures, from staffing shortages and shrinking reimbursements to growing online competition and disconnected legacy systems. Barti addresses these challenges with industry-first functionalitysuch as an AI Scribe designed specifically for optometry, a fully integrated phone/VoIP system, and built-in website management.

“Our goal is to automate more than 80% of routine administrative work through AI-powered tools, allowing practitioners to prioritize patients instead of paperwork,” said Calandrella. “Our AI agents are quickly advancing toward managing calls, optimizing inventory and pricing, handling insurance claims, and even analyzing clinical images. By 2027, practices will look and sound completely different, with doctors using their voice to run most workflows. Barti has always aimed to provide a true ‘business in a box’ for modern eye care, blending Silicon Valley innovation with deep industry expertise. Our partnership with Five Elms accelerates this vision, enabling us to scale nationwide and lead the industry into the AI era.”

With more than 200 practices onboarded in just three years, Barti has quickly established itself as a leader in optometric technology. It is also the first and only company backed by AOAExcel, the for-profit subsidiary of the American Optometric Association, which supports innovation and growth in eye care practices across the country.
