What You Should Know:

– Carna Health, a digital health company focused on kidney care, has announced a strategic agreement with Siemens Healthineers. The collaboration aims to accelerate the adoption of Carna’s AI-enabled chronic kidney disease (CKD) platform and bring point-of-care testing systems to emerging markets.

– This will help improve early detection and CKD management for high-risk and underserved populations by integrating Carna Health’s digital platforms with Siemens Healthineers’ global diagnostics infrastructure.

AI-Powered CKD Screening

The partnership is also designed to simplify CKD workflow processes, create better referral pathways, and provide timely nephrology care. The ultimate goal is to improve patient outcomes while reducing healthcare costs for both patients and healthcare systems. A population-based CKD screening program is currently underway in Bermuda and Limbe, Cameroon, enrolling 30,000 individuals. The program uses Carna Health’s digital platform in combination with point-of-care eGFR testing performed on the epoc® Blood Analysis System from Siemens Healthineers. The goal is to bring scalable, tech-driven solutions and lifesaving care to communities that face challenges in accessing care.

According to Salvatore Viscomi, MD, Co-Founder and CEO of Carna Health, this agreement marks a “turning point in the fight against CKD”. By combining Carna’s AI-enabled platform with the global diagnostics expertise of Siemens Healthineers, the collaboration will deliver a unified approach to the early identification, continuous monitoring, and proactive management of CKD. Viscomi believes that together, the companies can detect disease sooner, connect patients to care faster, and enable interventions that save lives.

Carna Health aims to enroll 25 million people in CKD screening programs worldwide by 2030, with plans to expand its platform to screen for other cardiometabolic diseases, including diabetes. The company is also an authorized reseller of Siemens Healthineers diagnostic solutions in key markets, positioning Carna Health to lead digital CKD programs across public and private health systems.
