What You Should Know:

– Ambience Healthcare, Caregility, Five9, Imprivata and NESA announced they have recently been added to or are in the process of being integrated into Epic’s Toolbox, signaling a new wave of digital health enhancements aimed at improving patient care, operational efficiency, and security.

– These integrations focus on embedding advanced capabilities directly into the Epic electronic health record (EHR) ecosystem to meet clinicians and patients where they are.

Imprivata Patient Access: Biometric Identity Verification

Epic Toolbox Additions: NESA, Imprivata, and Five9 Launch New Integrations

Imprivata Patient Access is now “under construction” in the Epic Toolbox under the new Identity Verification for MyChart category. This integration will provide a self-service option for patients to create or recover their MyChart accounts using advanced face recognition technology. The solution is designed to significantly reduce the risks of patient misidentification, which can lead to claim denials and duplicate medical records. This integration extends high-assurance identity management across the entire healthcare enterprise. The use of face recognition helps automate manual administrative processes, which can boost ROI and clinical efficiency by freeing up staff to focus on patient care.

Five9 Fusion: Intelligent Contact Center Integration

Epic Toolbox Additions: NESA, Imprivata, and Five9 Launch New Integrations

Five9 has launched Five9 Fusion for Epic, a native, standards-based integration that embeds advanced contact center capabilities directly into Epic’s EHR system. Approved for Epic’s Toolbox, this integration aims to help healthcare organizations deliver faster, more personalized patient experiences. The API-driven integration allows agents to work from a single screen, eliminating the need to switch between multiple systems. Key features include instant patient context on every call through inbound screen pops and one-click outbound calling directly from Epic modules. This solution is designed to streamline workflows, reduce administrative burden, and support a seamless patient journey.

NESA Virtual Care Platform™: The First Inpatient Virtual Care Solution

Epic Toolbox Additions: NESA, Imprivata, and Five9 Launch New Integrations

The NESA Virtual Care Platform™ is the first Inpatient Virtual Care solution to receive Epic’s Toolbox designation. This designation confirms that the platform has been rigorously tested and validated by Epic to meet its inpatient integration and functionality standards. The platform is designed to provide high-quality, scalable virtual care through a fully embedded user experience, supporting a variety of workflows for patients of all ages. Key features of the NESA platform include seamless integration with Epic Hyperspace, MyChart, Rover, Canto, and Haiku, as well as AI-enabled, edge-based virtual care with two-way audio and video. This embedded experience aims to streamline care interactions and help clinicians focus on patients

Ambience Healthcare: AI-Powered Documentation

Ambience Healthcare, a leading AI platform for documentation, coding, and clinical documentation integrity (CDI), has joined Epic’s Toolbox program for Ambient Voice Recognition. This partnership will expand the availability of Ambience’s AI-powered documentation capabilities to a broader range of Epic customers. The new integration with Epic’s Ambient Module and Haiku enables Ambience’s unique, frontier capabilities directly inside of Haiku. The core capabilities of the integration include:

  • Contextual intelligence for visit documentation: Ambience uses clinical intelligence to incorporate additional aspects of a patient’s chart, such as prior notes and diagnostics, into the current note.
  • AI-integrated coding support: The platform has the ability to surface accurate and precise ICD-10 coding suggestions and generate “coding-aware” documentation that supports selected codes.
  • Comprehensive care setting availability: Clinicians can launch the service from Haiku in outpatient, ED, and inpatient settings.

Caregility Corporation: Enhancing Inpatient Virtual Care with AI

Caregility Corporation, a global leader in connected care and AI solutions, has earned a spot in Epic’s Toolbox for Inpatient Virtual Care solutions. The integration is designed to provide seamless virtual care experiences directly within the established workflows of Epic’s clinical users. The Caregility Connected Care™ platform supports a variety of inpatient virtual workflows, including virtual nursing, patient observation, specialist consults, and family engagement. This enables more efficient, collaborative care that reduces the burden on bedside clinicians and improves patient experiences. The platform’s integration with Epic supports Context-Aware Linking (CAL) and Embedded Context-Aware Linking (ECAL), connecting with various Epic applications such as MyChart Bedside TV, Epic Monitor, Haiku, and Hyperspace.

Caregility’s latest platform enhancements leverage AI to improve clinical workflows. The Augmented Observation feature uses computer vision during patient observation sessions to enhance patient safety by helping clinicians quickly identify potential risks. Additionally, Clinical Notes uses ambient listening to seamlessly capture clinician documentation, saving providers time. The Contactless Vitals functionality allows clinicians to remotely capture a patient’s resting heart and breathing rates, providing more clinical information during virtual visits.
