Auxira Health is redefining the future of cardiology by integrating virtually embedded clinical teams into the daily workflows of cardiology practices. Designed in close collaboration with care teams and physicians, Auxira delivers seamless, scalable, and sustainable clinical support that enables cardiologists to focus on delivering high-quality, patient-centered care.

Founded as a strategic partnership between MedStar Health and Abundant Venture Partners—and strengthened through support from Studio Red, the American Heart Association Ventures incubator—Auxira was built from a tested model. Its foundation, the Connected Cardiology program at MedStar Health, demonstrated early success by increasing care team capacity, improving physician satisfaction, and enhancing patient access. With these results, MedStar became a co-developer, anchor customer, and strategic investor in Auxira.

Auxira’s care model addresses three central challenges facing cardiology today:

·       A growing aging population, with over 10,000 Americans entering Medicare daily.

·       A cardiologist workforce under increasing strain.

·       The administrative burden from electronic health records (EHRs) and patient portals, which often consume up to two hours of daily physician time managing digital inboxes.

To meet these challenges, Auxira precision-matches practices with virtual “pods” of experienced clinical staff—including advanced practice providers (APPs), medical assistants (MAs), and registered nurses (RNs)—who operate remotely as direct extensions of the practice. These pods:

·       Support care for complex patients and triage messages.

·       Handle follow-ups and administrative workflows.

·       Conduct telehealth visits for lower-acuity needs, freeing up physicians for more complex cases.

Each Auxira pod is tailored to the clinical and cultural needs of its assigned practice. APPs possess prior cardiology experience and undergo side-by-side onboarding with in-house physicians to ensure smooth virtual integration. Importantly, the model requires no new technology platforms; teams operate within existing EHR and billing systems, avoiding additional infrastructure strain.

Unlike many digital solutions that increase complexity without reducing clinical load, Auxira’s human-centered approach enhances operational efficiency and physician satisfaction. Participating health systems have reported:
