Suki Unveils Industry-First Ambient Orders Staging for its AI Assistant

What You Should Know:

– Suki, the leader in artificial intelligence (AI) technology for healthcare, today announced the industry’s first-ever capability to generate and stage prescription orders from ambient visits.

– This new feature will be available within its flagship product, Suki Assistant, and was developed at the request of clinicians. Orders are among clinicians’ most time-consuming administrative tasks and can take up to 1.4 hours every 8-hour shift, making the process a key contributor to clinical administrative burden and its solution a top priority for Suki.

Suki: Transforming Healthcare through AI-Driven Solutions to Combat Clinician Burnout

Suki is a leading technology company specializing in AI-powered voice solutions for healthcare. Its mission is to revolutionize the healthcare technology landscape by reducing administrative burdens on clinicians. The company’s flagship product, Suki Assistant, uses generative AI to seamlessly generate clinical documentation by listening to patient-clinician conversations in real-time. This solution enables clinicians to complete documentation tasks 72% faster on average, assisting with other duties such as coding and responding to inquiries. By streamlining administrative processes, Suki also helps organizations generate incremental revenue, delivering a 9X ROI within the first year.

Key Benefits of Suki’s Solutions:

  • Reduces documentation time by 72% on average
  • Assists with coding, answering questions, and other administrative tasks
  • Delivers a 9X ROI in the first year
  • Supports incremental revenue generation for healthcare organizations

Suki is also expanding its capabilities through its proprietary AI and speech platform, the Suki Platform, which allows partners to integrate best-in-class ambient and voice solutions into their own applications. With backing from prominent investors such as Venrock, First Round, Flare Capital Partners, March Capital, Breyer Capital, and Hedosophia, Suki is well-positioned to continue leading the transformation in healthcare technology.

A major development for Suki includes the integration of its AI capabilities with various electronic health record (EHR) systems. Initially, the company will roll out its solutions to users of athenahealth’s EHR platform, with plans to expand to Epic, Oracle Health, and MEDITECH in the near future. This integration will allow clinicians to speak their recommended prescription orders directly to Suki during patient encounters. Suki will then structure, code, and stage the order, minimizing the need for manual input and verification processes. Clinicians can subsequently submit notes with fewer clicks and complete their work more efficiently, freeing up time for direct patient care.

The new feature enhances clinician productivity by streamlining the order entry process:

  • Clinicians can voice prescription orders during encounters, with Suki automatically structuring and coding them
  • Reduces the need for individual acceptances and minimizes manual data entry
  • Allows for seamless note submission, saving time and reducing administrative tasks

Suki’s advancements are playing a significant role in addressing clinician burnout, a critical issue in healthcare. Clinicians spend nearly 20 hours each week on administrative duties, a burden that negatively impacts their well-being, patient care, and organizational efficiency. By reducing the time spent on documentation by 72% on average, including almost 6 hours per week after hours, Suki is helping to alleviate these challenges. This increased efficiency allows clinicians to devote more time to patient care, which leads to improved patient outcomes and enhanced revenue for healthcare systems.

Dr. Kristi Trimm, a Family Medicine physician at TrustCare, emphasized the positive impact of Suki’s order entry feature: “Suki has made a significant difference by helping me close encounters more quickly, ensuring orders are ready as soon as the patient leaves the room. It allows me to spend more time on patient care, reducing the time I spend typing and navigating complex EHR systems.”

This latest enhancement follows a series of successful partnerships and innovations for Suki, including collaborations with Zoom and athenahealth, as well as the introduction of new features for Suki Assistant, such as patient summarization and Q&A support, powered by Google Cloud’s Vertex AI platform. Through these developments, Suki is driving meaningful change in healthcare, improving clinician satisfaction and ultimately benefiting both patients and healthcare organizations.
