NowPatient and Lifelight Partner to Optimize Telehealth with Smartphone Blood Pressure Monitoring

What You Should Know:

– NowPatient, a global online pharmacy and telehealth service, announced a partnership with Lifelight, a pioneer in software-only blood pressure monitoring.

– The strategic collaboration integrates Lifelight’s clinically validated technology into NowPatient’s virtual care platform, enabling remote blood pressure measurement using just a smartphone. This innovation removes a significant barrier to telehealth adoption, allowing for the safe and effective delivery of care for conditions that previously required in-person appointments.

Traditionally, many treatments requiring accurate blood pressure readings could not be prescribed virtually. Lifelight’s software overcomes this limitation by enabling patients to measure their blood pressure remotely using their smartphone camera. This eliminates the need for wearable devices or cuffs, making it a convenient and accessible solution for both patients and clinicians.

How Lifelight Works

Lifelight’s technology is a fully validated CE Class I medical device. It uses the smartphone camera to measure blood pressure, heart rate, and respiratory rate in less than a minute. The patient simply looks at their smartphone screen while the app analyzes subtle changes in skin color to estimate blood pressure.

“By integrating Lifelight into our virtual care platform, we’re revolutionising remote treatment by enabling clinicians to prescribe medications that would otherwise be restricted from remote prescribing,” said Rajive Patel, Product Lead at NowPatient. “This seamless integration enhances the user experience while giving our clinicians a more comprehensive view of a patient’s health, improving both decision-making and treatment outcomes. One of the biggest challenges in virtual healthcare has been the ability to safely assess vital signs like blood pressure. With Lifelight, we’re not only addressing this challenge but also expanding access to care and unlocking broader treatment options for our users.”
