Philips, World Bank, and Ukraine Ministry of Health Partner to Modernize Stroke Care

What You Should Know:

– Philips, a global leader in health technology, today announced a partnership with the World Bank and Ukraine’s Ministry of Health (MOH) to modernize stroke and cardiovascular care across Ukraine.

– The nationwide initiative aims to address the growing need for timely and effective stroke treatment, exacerbated by war-related challenges and displacement.

Addressing the Growing Need for Stroke Care in Ukraine

The demand for stroke care in Ukraine has increased significantly due to the ongoing conflict, with many patients facing delays in treatment and limited access to specialized care. This initiative aims to address these challenges by establishing a robust network of stroke treatment centers equipped with advanced technology.

The program focuses on expanding access to advanced stroke care by deploying 25 Philips Azurion interventional suites to key regions in Ukraine. These systems enable minimally invasive procedures, such as thrombectomies, which can significantly improve outcomes for stroke patients.

Key features of the initiative:

  • Advanced technology: Deployment of 25 Philips Azurion interventional suites equipped with software and tools to streamline stroke care.
  • Expanded access: Improved access to minimally invasive stroke treatments in underserved regions.
  • Comprehensive training: Hands-on education for Ukrainian physicians in Poland to ensure effective utilization of the new technology.
  • Global partnership: Collaboration with the World Stroke Organization to advocate for improved stroke care infrastructure and awareness.

“This program is saving lives, reducing disability, and changing the futures of stroke patients,” said Dr. Dmytro Lebedynets, a neurologist at Feofaniya Clinical Hospital and consultant on stroke to the World Bank and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. “With these advanced tools, we can deliver timely and precise life-saving care, even in emergencies. It’s a game-changer for our patients. Now all the regions of our country will be able to provide the full spectrum of care to stroke patients.”
