New Virtual Care Option Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts Expands Women’s Health Access in MA

What You Should Know:

– Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (Blue Cross) today announced a new partnership with Visana Health, a virtual women’s health clinic, to provide its members with expanded access to comprehensive and convenient care.

– The collaboration reinforces Blue Cross’ commitment to supporting women’s health and addressing the unique needs of its members.

Virtual Care Option Provides Comprehensive Support for Women

Research indicates that women often face significant gaps in care and spend more time in poor health compared to men. Visana Health’s comprehensive approach aims to address these disparities by providing accessible and personalized care for women throughout their lives.

By partnering with Visana Health, Blue Cross is making it easier for its members to access quality women’s healthcare. Visana Health offers a wide range of services beyond traditional family planning, including diagnosis and treatment for conditions such as menstrual disorders, menopause, and complex conditions (e.g. PCOS Endometriosis).

Visana Health’s virtual platform offers:

  • Convenience: Eliminates the need for travel and reduces wait times for appointments.
  • Accessibility: Provides care in all 50 states, increasing access for members in rural or underserved areas.
  • Affordability: Helps prevent costly and unnecessary surgeries, procedures, and medications.
  • Personalized Care: Offers specialized care from a team of experienced clinicians.

“Women’s health includes high-cost, complex conditions. Yet, many women’s health conditions remain overlooked, and there is a critical lack of services to support women in these stages of their healthcare journey,” said Barbara Levy, Chief Medical Officer of Visana Health. “Visana Health and Blue Cross have a shared mission to ensure that women are heard, helped and supported at all stages of their health.”
