What You Should Know:

– Jimini Health, a digital health company reimagining mental healthcare, has announced its launch with $8 million in pre-seed funding from Zetta Venture Partners, LionBird, PsyMed, BoxGroup, Arkitekt Ventures, SCB, and others.

– The company offers a unique, clinician-led therapy model enhanced by responsible AI, aiming to improve patient outcomes and transform the mental health experience.

– Jimini Health was co-founded by Luis Voloch, Mark Jacobstein, and Sahil Sud to collaborate with renowned psychology experts from institutions like Harvard, Yale, and Stanford, ensuring its therapeutic practices are backed by the latest clinical research.

The Importance of Responsible AI in Mental Health

Traditional therapy often faces challenges in providing continuous support between sessions, limiting its effectiveness. Jimini Health combines the expertise of human therapists with the power of AI to create a more engaging and effective therapeutic experience. The company’s approach integrates traditional evidence-based therapy modalities, such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), with an AI therapist assistant called Sage.

Unlike standalone AI chatbots that may lack clinical oversight, Jimini Health’s AI is integrated into a patient’s care plan and supervised by a licensed therapist. This ensures that Sage reinforces therapeutic objectives safely and responsibly, mitigating the risks associated with unsupervised AI tools.

Sage: The AI Therapist Assistant

Sage provides patients with personalized prompts and exercises aligned with their therapeutic goals, encouraging daily engagement and reinforcing progress between therapy sessions. This continuous support model aims to improve outcomes by helping patients actively practice and apply therapeutic skills.

Key features and benefits of Sage include:

  • Clinician-Led Care: Jimini Health’s model is led by licensed therapists who oversee and guide the patient’s treatment plan.
  • AI Therapist Assistant: Sage provides tailored prompts and exercises aligned with the patient’s therapeutic goals, keeping them engaged and motivated between sessions.
  • Continuous Support: The platform offers ongoing support and encouragement, helping patients practice and reinforce therapeutic skills outside of traditional therapy sessions.
  • Safe and Clinically Integrated AI: Sage is designed to be a safe and responsible AI assistant, integrated directly into the patient’s care plan and supervised by a human therapist.
  • Evidence-Based Approach: Jimini Health’s therapeutic practices are grounded in evidence-based modalities and supported by collaborations with renowned psychology experts.

“Therapy has been constrained by a traditional once-a-week model that leaves patients unsupported between sessions— a shortcoming that can be overcome with LLMs,” said Luis Voloch, CEO and co-founder of Jimini Health. “We’re thrilled to attract a top-tier syndicate of AI and healthcare investors who support our approach. Our mission is to integrate responsible AI to superpower our clinicians, rather than replace them, to offer a new standard of continuous, higher quality care.”
