What You Should Know:

– Ubie, a global healthcare AI platform that guides patients to better interactions with providers and life sciences, and  PatientsLikeMe (PLM), the leading integrated patient engagement, activation and health tracking platform that empowers over 850,000 patients to navigate their health journeys, today announced a partnership to empower patients with serious illnesses throughout their healthcare journey.

–  By integrating Ubie’s AI-powered Symptom Checker with the PatientsLikeMe platform, the collaboration will engage patients longitudinally with personalized information, support, and resources from the first sign of symptoms through diagnosis and treatment.

PatientsLikeMe and Ubie Partnership: Revolutionizing Patient Engagement and Support

PatientsLikeMe (PLM) is a leading, data-driven platform that enhances patient engagement by fostering peer support, improving self-care, and aiding in behavior change. The platform simplifies healthcare navigation by providing commercial solutions for patient recruitment and engagement, powered by a comprehensive database that tracks millions of medication and symptom reports. This wealth of real-world data enables PLM members to better manage their health and sustain behavior changes.

The partnership between PatientsLikeMe and Ubie addresses significant gaps in healthcare by supporting patients through complex journeys to diagnosis and treatment. Serious illnesses often involve long, uncertain diagnostic processes, with many patients navigating their symptoms alone while consulting multiple doctors. Once diagnosed, patients frequently face emotional challenges such as fear, denial, and isolation. This partnership aims to reduce delays in care and improve the quality of life for these patients by providing early engagement, accurate guidance, tailored information, and necessary resources.

The initial phase of this partnership will focus on patient education, activation, clinical trial recruitment, research, and delivering valuable insights. Ubie’s Symptom Checker will provide personalized assessments to guide patients early in their healthcare journey, offering insights into potential conditions and recommending appropriate medical care. Following this, PatientsLikeMe will offer a supportive community where newly diagnosed individuals and those managing serious illnesses can share experiences, connect with peers, and access resources to support their well-being.

This collaboration also introduces a transformative approach to patient marketing, particularly for pharmaceutical companies. By targeting the “invisible patient”—those undiagnosed individuals navigating complex health issues—this partnership allows companies to engage with a previously difficult-to-reach patient population. With PLM’s existing partnerships with over 80 biopharmaceutical and healthcare innovators, and Ubie’s collaboration with global pharmaceutical leaders, this partnership has the potential to reshape how patients are identified, engaged, and supported throughout their healthcare journey.

Future phases will include the development of a dedicated PatientsLikeMe web experience for patients and customized connections between Ubie and PLM services. A bespoke API will also be developed to seamlessly integrate Ubie’s Symptom Checker into the PLM platform, creating a unified and streamlined user experience.

The collaboration capitalizes on the strengths of both organizations. PatientsLikeMe offers clinically validated resources with a proven impact, supported by over 100 studies published in peer-reviewed journals, covering more than 2,800 conditions. Ubie’s real-time AI, trained on more than 50,000 peer-reviewed publications, draws upon the expertise of over 50 medical specialists and connects with more than 1,500 healthcare provider organizations for real-world feedback. Together, these strengths position the partnership to transform patient identification, engagement, and support, ultimately improving outcomes for individuals living with serious illnesses.

“PatientsLikeMe is dedicated to building one of the largest, trusted global communities to support and empower patients at every stage of their journey,” said Chris Renfro-Wallace, Chief Operating Officer of PatientsLikeMe. “Through our partnership with Ubie, we’ll now be able to better support our members when they have a new health concern, a critical time in their health journey, and guide them toward their next best action.”
