MATTER Selected as BARDA’s Digital Health Hub to Advance Health Security Innovation

What You Should Know: 

– MATTER, a leading healthcare incubator and innovation hub, has been chosen by the Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) to establish a Digital Health Hub within the BARDA Accelerator Network. 

– This initiative, named Paratus, aims to develop and validate cutting-edge digital health solutions to bolster the nation’s preparedness and response to health security threats, ultimately improving the continuum of clinical care.

Paratus: Empowering Health Security Innovation

Paratus, the Digital Health Hub, will focus on accelerating and validating innovative technologies that address critical health security challenges. It will launch a series of accelerators to support entrepreneurs in developing solutions, offering funding opportunities for technical and clinical validation. The first program is scheduled to be announced in October 2024, with entry and funding selection based on an application process.

BARDA Accelerator Network

MATTER joins four other specialized hubs within the BARDA Accelerator Network, each dedicated to a specific area of health security innovation:

  • Enabling Technologies Hub: Led by MedTech Innovator, focuses on biomanufacturing, drug development, and clinical support technologies.
  • Special Populations Hub: Led by Children’s National Hospital, prioritizes health security for special populations, particularly pediatrics.
  • I-CREATE: Led by University Lab Partners, focuses on medical diagnostics and devices.
  • VITAL: Led by Start2 Group, focuses on therapeutics and vaccine innovation.

Comprehensive Support for Innovators

The BARDA Accelerator Network offers comprehensive support to health security innovators, startups, and BARDA portfolio companies. This support encompasses accelerator services, technical and business expertise, and access to valuable resources, enabling the rapid development, evaluation, validation, and commercialization of medical countermeasures.
