What You Should Know:
– Oracle Health today announced the release of new free code designed to enable its customers to support the Veteran Interoperability Pledge.
– This framework facilitates the secure sharing of patient health information between the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and community providers, enhancing the care of Veterans receiving treatment both within and outside the VA network.
Seamless Integration and Access
The new code enables Oracle Health’s electronic health record (EHR) customers to seamlessly integrate VA APIs into their workflows, allowing secure data exchange with organizations involved in Veteran care. The code is available for free download, reducing barriers for any customer organization to confirm a Veteran’s status, especially in critical emergency situations.
Early adopter Marshfield Clinic Health System is already using the code to identify Veterans during emergency department and urgent care visits, facilitating timely and appropriate treatment.
Enhanced Care and Benefits for Veterans
Beyond immediate identification, Oracle Health’s solution will empower providers to:
- Confirm Veteran status even for those not currently registered for benefits
- Automate benefit eligibility determination and referrals
- Identify relevant health resources for Veterans
- Access clinical and administrative data for quality assessment and care coordination
These capabilities will streamline the process of connecting Veterans with the care and benefits they deserve.
Implementation Options
Customers can download and install the code package at no cost and implement it using their own IT teams or opt for Oracle Health consulting services for additional support.
