What You Should Know:

– Xealth, a digital health platform is teaming up with the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome (NCSBS) to leverage Xealth’s digital health tools in distributing critical information to new families.

– The strategic integration collaboration aims to reduce the incidence of shaken baby syndrome (SBS) and abusive head trauma (AHT) through the widespread adoption of the Period of PURPLE Crying program.

Addressing the Shaken Baby Syndrome Epidemic

Shaken baby syndrome (SBS) is a devastating and preventable injury that affects thousands of infants each year. The NCSBS’ Period of PURPLE Crying program has proven effective in reducing the incidence of SBS by educating parents about infant crying and providing coping strategies.

Xealth’s digital health platform will be used to deliver the Period of PURPLE Crying program to new families at key moments in their child’s care. By automating the distribution of program-related information and the app, Xealth will help ensure that families receive the support they need when they need it most. Additionally, the platform will allow healthcare providers to track program enrollment, usage, and engagement, enabling data-driven improvements to the program.

Leveraging Technology for Improved Outcomes

Xealth’s platform offers several benefits for healthcare providers:

  • Increased reach: Enables broader distribution of the Period of PURPLE Crying program.
  • Improved tracking: Allows for monitoring program enrollment, usage, and engagement.
  • Centralized management: Provides a single platform for managing digital health assets and tools.
  • Data-driven insights: Offers valuable data on program effectiveness to inform future improvements.

“The first two months of a baby’s life are often the most stressful for a parent and caregiver as the baby’s crying is at its peak and caregivers are regularly sleep-deprived,” said Danielle Vázquez, BSW, executive director for the National Center on Shaken Baby Syndrome. “Our Period of PURPLE Crying program supports parents and caregivers in their understanding of early increased infant crying to reduce the incidence of shaken baby syndrome. We are excited to work with Xealth to equip families and caregivers with consistent, user-friendly resources.”
