What You Should Know:

– CenterWell, Humana’s health care services business, announced plans to open 23 senior-focused primary care centers in Walmart Supercenters across Florida, Georgia, Missouri, and Texas. This strategic move aims to enhance access to specialized care for seniors in these communities.

– CenterWell’s model emphasizes value-based care, focusing on patient outcomes rather than fee-for-service. The company accepts Medicare Advantage plans and Original Medicare, ensuring accessibility for a wide range of seniors.

A Strategic Partnership for Enhanced Senior Care

By locating primary care centers adjacent to Walmart stores, CenterWell aims to provide convenient and accessible healthcare services for seniors. The new centers will operate under the CenterWell Senior Primary Care and Conviva Care Centers brand names and are expected to be fully operational by the first half of 2025.

Focus on Senior-Centric Care

CenterWell’s primary care centers are designed specifically to meet the unique needs of seniors. Each location will employ a dedicated team of healthcare professionals, including:

  • Board-certified physicians
  • Nurse practitioners
  • Medical assistants
  • Care coaches
  • Social workers
  • Behavioral health specialists
  • Clinical pharmacists

This comprehensive approach ensures that seniors receive personalized care addressing both their physical and mental health needs.

Expanding Reach and Impact

CenterWell currently serves approximately 318,000 seniors across nearly 300 centers in 15 states. The partnership with Walmart will significantly expand the company’s reach, bringing high-quality primary care to more seniors in need.

Target Locations for New Centers

CenterWell plans to open senior-focused primary care centers in the following metropolitan areas:

  • Tampa/St Petersburg, Florida
  • Orlando, Florida
  • Jacksonville, Florida
  • Atlanta, Georgia
  • Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas
  • Kansas City, Missouri

“CenterWell is committed to providing seniors with high quality health care that is accessible, comprehensive, and most of all, personalized. We are excited by the unique opportunity to lease space from a world-class community partner such as Walmart and offer seniors in these four states greater access to our integrated approach to care,” said Sanjay Shetty, M.D., president of CenterWell. “These nearly two dozen primary care centers are specifically designed for seniors, and each location’s design, including dedicated entrances and easy parking, offers patients the access that they have come to expect at our clinics across the nation. We are eager to expand on our mission to help patients lead happier, healthier lives.”
