What You Should Know:
– Nabla, the leading ambient AI assistant for clinicians, today announced its newest partnership with Carle Health, a health system headquartered in Illinois with locations in Indiana, Washington, and North Carolina.
– After a successful four-week pilot program with participants across family, pediatrics, cardiology, and other practice areas, Nabla’s ambient AI assistant will roll out to Carle Health’s Illinois-based multi-specialty physician group practice. It will then be gradually implemented throughout the year to 1,500 Carle Health providers, including emergency rooms and hospitalists.
Nabla Revolutionizes Clinical Documentation, Easing Physician Workloads and Enhancing Patient Care
Nabla is the premier ambient AI assistant, designed to alleviate practitioner stress and enhance patient care. It generates AI-driven clinical notes within seconds from any encounter across all medical specialties. Leveraging proprietary large language models (LLMs) tailored to the medical field, Nabla’s features include AI-enabled medical coding and seamless EHR integration.
Physicians, regardless of specialty, spend an average of 15.5 hours weekly on paperwork and administration, with nine hours dedicated solely to EHR documentation. This documentation detracts from direct patient care and adds nearly six hours per week to physicians’ “pajama time”—the time spent on EHR tasks after standard hours and during weekends.
Carle Health has adopted Nabla’s standard templates and features, including telehealth integration and multi-speaker functionality. Nabla captures the voices of multiple participants in the exam room, ensuring comprehensive clinical notes and expediting chart completion. During the pilot program, over 50% of Carle Health clinicians reported saving at least one hour daily on documentation tasks. Nabla integrates seamlessly with Carle Health’s EHR system, Epic. Clinicians use Nabla within Epic on their desktops or mobile devices, eliminating the need to switch between systems. Nabla automatically extracts relevant patient data from Epic to inform the note, which can then be exported to Epic with a single click. Additionally, Nabla can suggest updates to the patient’s problem list, such as when a new diagnosis is made during a visit.
“Nabla fits seamlessly into our workflows, and thanks to the onboarding support and training we received throughout the pilot program, we started seeing results immediately,” said Dr. James Leonard, CEO of Carle Health. “Nabla enhanced the patient experience at our pilot sites by giving our providers more face time with their patients, knowing that it was doing the heavy lifting for charting. We look forward to rolling Nabla out to additional practice groups and feel confident in the results we’ll continue to achieve.”
