With a wealth of experience spanning various facets of healthcare delivery and payer organizations, Dr. Gilliland brings a unique blend of expertise and leadership to his new role. Prior to joining Geisinger, he served in key positions, including Chief Medical Officer and Chief Science Officer at Cogitativo, a leading healthcare-focused artificial intelligence and machine learning company. His tenure also includes executive roles at Blue Shield of California and Sentara Healthcare, where he spearheaded initiatives focused on healthcare quality and affordability.

Dr. Gilliland’s career journey showcases a deep commitment to advancing healthcare excellence. His leadership roles at the Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group and the Colorado Permanente Medical Group within Kaiser Permanente, coupled with his experience as a practicing general surgeon, underscore his dedication to improving patient care and outcomes.
