What You Should Know:

  • Today, Talkspace, the largest telemedicine-based therapy provider covered by insurance in the nation, and Bicycle Health, the leading telemedicine-based program for opioid use disorder (OUD) treatment, have announced a partnership to enhance virtual care access for their respective patient bases.
  •  Through this collaboration, Talkspace patients gain increased access to specialized care for opioid use disorder, including medication for opioid use disorder treatment (MOUD), along with therapists and recovery coaches specializing in OUD treatment. For Bicycle Health patients, the partnership extends access to therapists with expertise beyond substance use disorder, such as marriage and family therapy, and asynchronous therapeutic chat services.

Talkspace and Bicycle Health Join Forces to Expand Virtual Care Access

Despite 7.7 million Americans facing co-occurring mental health conditions and substance use disorder, over half do not receive treatment for either. High demand for therapy exists, but obstacles like stigma, limited access to licensed therapists, and affordability hinder many from seeking help. Collaborations between telehealth providers centralize care access, making treatment more convenient, affordable, and accessible. Bicycle Health, the leading telemedicine OUD treatment provider, has served over 33,000 patients across 32 states, while Talkspace’s network of over 5,000 licensed clinicians throughout all 50 states has provided therapy to over a million individuals in need.

“Opioid use disorder does not exist in a vacuum. We consider the whole person and their environment when recommending the right care plan to help them achieve stable, lasting recovery,” said Dr. Brian Clear, Chief Medical Officer at Bicycle Health. “Like patients in all care settings, Bicycle Health patients often experience depression, anxiety, or other behavioral conditions beyond their addiction, and many will benefit from a relationship with a therapist at Talkspace with expertise to meet their needs. Now, in addition to our own internal therapist team, our clinicians have the ability to connect our patients to a therapist at Talkspace quickly and reliably whenever that’s the right choice for any patient.”
