What You Should Know:

– Ballad Health, a leading healthcare system in the Appalachian Highlands, is partnering with 410 Medical to bring a revolutionary device called LifeFlow to its patients.

– The portable, rapid fluid delivery system promises quicker resuscitation times for patients in critical conditions like sepsis, shock, trauma, and cardiac arrest.

Time is Critical in Life-Threatening Situations

Traditional methods of fluid administration can take up to 10 times longer than LifeFlow’s impressive speed. This innovative device can deliver 1 liter of fluid or two units of blood in under four minutes, significantly reducing the time it takes to stabilize patients in critical situations.

Niswonger Children’s Hospital Pilot Project

Ballad Health’s pilot project at Niswonger Children’s Hospital quickly yielded positive results. In one instance, a lethargic patient with critically low vitals was on the verge of ICU transfer. However, rapid fluid delivery through LifeFlow led to immediate improvement and avoided the transfer.

Benefits of LifeFlow

  • Faster Resuscitation: LifeFlow’s rapid delivery of fluids provides critical support for patients in time-sensitive situations.
  • Improved Clinical Outcomes: Studies have shown LifeFlow to reduce ICU stays and overall hospital expenses compared to traditional methods.
  • Ease of Use: The portable and user-friendly design of LifeFlow minimizes the technical manpower required for operation, making it ideal for rural and community hospitals with limited resources.
  • Cost-Effectiveness: LifeFlow’s ability to reduce hospital stays and improve outcomes translates to cost savings for healthcare systems.

“LifeFlow is a game-changer due to its ease of use, cost-effectiveness, and sustainability. Early and aggressive fluid therapy is critical, and LifeFlow overcomes the challenges of traditional infusers,” said Dr. Morgan May, Chief Nursing Officer for Ballad Health’s Southern Region.
