Emory Healthcare Appoints Dr. Nitu Kashyap as Chief Health Informatics Officer

Emory Healthcare has announced the appointment of Dr. Nitu Kashyap, MD, FAMIA, as its Chief Health Informatics Officer (CHIO), effective from February 5, 2024.

In her new role, Dr. Kashyap will be responsible for overseeing technology projects spanning clinical disciplines to ensure alignment with Emory’s strategic goals in patient experience, care, teaching, and research. Dr. Kashyap will collaborate closely with Emory University’s information technology clinical and administrative leaders to drive positive changes in systems, workflow, and culture.

Dr. Kashyap Bio/Background

Dr. Kashyap joins Emory Healthcare from Yale New Haven Health System in Connecticut, where she currently serves as the Chief Medical Information Officer. Her pivotal role at Yale includes advancing population health informatics and clinical decision support. Additionally, she holds the position of an assistant clinical professor in internal medicine and biostatistics (health informatics) at Yale School of Medicine.

Having held various leadership positions since 2011 at Yale New Haven Health System, Dr. Kashyap has a proven track record in driving innovation in health informatics. Prior to her tenure at Yale, she served as the Assistant Medical Director of Informatics at the Fallon Clinic in Worcester, Massachusetts, and as a physician champion for the electronic health record (EHR) at Kaiser Permanente in Gaithersburg, Maryland.

With two decades of experience as a clinical informatician, Dr. Kashyap has been instrumental in developing and deploying digital solutions that positively impact both patients and clinicians. She earned her medical degree from Lala Lajpat Rai Memorial Medical College in Meerut, India, followed by a residency in internal medicine at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey in Morristown, NJ. She completed a fellowship in informatics at Yale.
