OpenNotes Pulls In $10M to Support Access to Clinical Notes for 50M Patients

eClinicalWorks, a provider of healthcare IT solutions has announced that it now supports OpenNotes, an international movement dedicated to making healthcare more open and transparent. With this announcement, over 130,000 providers using eClinicalWorks will have the ability to share notes with their patients using the eClinicalWorks Patient Portal, further fostering stronger patient-provider relationships.

By supporting OpenNotes, the eClinicalWorks cloud-based solution will help to improve the quality of care delivered. Together, the technologies will provide patients with new insight and enhanced access to their care, while encouraging them to participate in clinical decision making in their healthcare journey. While the eClinicalWorks Patient Portal always had the ability to provide Visit Summary access to the patients, OpenNotes capability complements the Patient Portal and further enhances these summaries to make them more complete.

“eClinicalWorks is committed to supporting stronger relationships between patients and clinicians and improving Patient Engagement,” said Girish Navani, CEO and co-founder of eClinicalWorks in a statement. “eClinicalWorks remains dedicated to enhancing access to healthcare and making it more open and transparent. We believe that adding OpenNotes functionality will improve the healthcare experience for patients and is vital for the future of healthcare delivery.”
