Mount Sinai Health System Launches Telehealth Initiatives

Mount Sinai Health System has announced the launch of the Android version of its mobile app for patients, called MountSinaiNY.  Developed by Mount Sinai’s Department of Information Technology, MountSinaiNY serves as a one-touch patient experience, featuring information and links that make it easier to access and use health services offered at the Mount Sinai Health System. The app was first released in the Apple App Store in June 2016. Mount Sinai chose LifeMap Solutions, a subsidiary of BioTime, INC. (NYSE MKT: BTX), to develop the MountSinaiNY app.

“Patients visiting Mount Sinai want access to familiar technology that simplifies their experience,” said Bruce Darrow, MD, PhD, Chief Medical Information Officer, Mount Sinai Health System. “Offering our app on Android devices is the next step in helping our patients use the power of their mobile devices to improve their care.”

The app offers users a variety of features, including:

– appointment booking

– bill payment

– access to patient medical records

– general information about Mount Sinai facilities

– live blog and social media updates.

Future updates to the app include telemedicine, wayfinding, and enhanced access to Mount Sinai services.

“The release of the MountSinaiNY app on Android devices allows more patients to seamlessly access their health information, communicate with their physician, and schedule appointments,” said Sandra Myerson, Senior Vice President and Chief Patient Experience Officer, Joseph F. Cullman, Jr. Institute for Patient Experience, Mount Sinai Health System. “Research shows that when patients can see their health information, they take greater ownership of their wellness and are more prepared to interact with their providers.”

The MountSinaiNY Android app is now available today for free in the Google Play store and can be downloaded here. The app is also available in the Apple App store here.
