Following the tragic death of one patient and hospitalization of five others in a French clinical study earlier this year, the call for improved patient safety both before and after market approval of drugs and other medical interventions has become a global conversation. Just last month, France’s investigative body determined the clinical research organization and drugmaker were at fault for various lapses throughout the clinical trial.
To help solve this, Deloitte has unveil a new cloud-based analytics solution to help pharmaceutical and other life sciences organizations avoid such missteps and improve pharmacovigilance processes overall. The high-performance app named ConvergeHEALTH Safety delivers accurate, easy-to-understand insights, improving decision making in real time in today’s complex and evolving drug safety landscape.
The solution’s signal detection feature enables user organizations to catch anomalies and possible issues of on-market drugs where the patient population is much larger and more difficult to track than the small, fixed populations of clinical trials.
As part of the offering, Deloitte has teamed with SAP to offer the SAP HANA® in-memory computing platform as one of the strategic technology components for the Safety application and additional ConvergeHEALTH analytics applications.
Building on SAP HANA will enable Safety and other ConvergeHEALTH applications to bring together data warehousing and operational reporting, real time processing and advanced visualization and data science and predictive analysis into a single solution to deliver an integrated and intuitive user experience.
The new safety app offers life sciences organizations a pre-built set of cloud-based management and analytics tools for responding to regulatory and scientific inquiries, performing proactive safety surveillance and managing quality and compliance functions to improve the pharmacovigilance process overall.
