ZocDoc Health Systems

In an effort to strengthen its rebranding focus on hospitals, ZocDoc announced it will integrate its online scheduling platform with Epic’s EHR via an API to improve access and interoperability. The new Epic EHR integration will provide a streamlined experience for both companies’ customers such as Hartford HealthCare, Inova, NYU Langone Medical Center, Yale New Haven Health, and others.

ZocDoc’s Business Shift from Individual Practices to Hospitals

With two-thirds of doctors moving from independent practice to hospital groups, according to a 2015 Accenture report, ZocDoc now valued at $1.8B hopes to accelerate the growth of its enterprise business through partnerships with leading hospitals and health systems – which has doubled in size year over year for the past two years and is accelerating this year. The shift in ZocDoc’s business approach mirrors national trend of healthcare consolidation.

How ZocDoc Works for Health Systems

For health systems, ZocDoc shows real-time availability for physicians allowing patients can instantly schedule appointments through their current website, portal and other branding touchpoints.

This seamless integration allows for health systems to acquire new patients through the ZocDoc marketplace resulting in:

– improved current patient access means increased rebooking. 81% of patients who rebook in the same specialty choose the same practice.

– Large search presence to improve patient acquisition and boost reimbursement. 83% of Zocdoc patients are commercially insured or cash paying.

– Enhance online reputation to capture more feedback for verified reviews. The average rating of a doctor after one year on Zocdoc is 4.68 out of 5 stars.

“Zocdoc’s innovative work has helped to optimize our appointment inventory and enhance our patients’ access to care,” said Nader Mherabi, senior vice president and vice dean, Chief Information Officer, at NYU Langone Medical Center. “We are excited about their new integration, which will empower a more seamless experience.”
