MediPortal announced today it is joining CommonWell Health Alliance as a contributing member. CommonWell, a non-profit trade association, is dedicated to the simple vision that health data should be available regardless of where care occurs. Provider access to this data must be built-in health IT at a reasonable cost for use by a broad range of health care providers and the people they serve.
CommonWell and its members are producing and deploying real-world, cross-vendor interoperability services that will contribute to improved health care delivery and outcomes for providers and the people they serve. CommonWell services include person enrollment, record location, patient identification and linking, and data query and retrieval across the health care continuum. Today, CommonWell services are live at more than 1,200 provider sites, ranging from large acute hospitals to rural specialty practices, nationwide.
“MediPortal shares our vision that health data should be accessible to individuals and providers no matter where they receive care,” said Nick Knowlton, Membership Committee chair for CommonWell Health Alliance and Vice President at Brightree. “We are confident that as we continue to add members such as MediPortal we can expand our coverage and accelerate the nationwide expansion of our real-world interoperability services.”
As a patient engagement solutions company, MediPortal allows providers to leverage their patients’ data by creating their own internal data exchange platform that layers on top of their existing EHR infrastructure. By joining the CommonWell Health Alliance as a Contributing Member, MediPortal can bring even more value to its customers by offering an additional interoperability solution to assist in better identifying and linking patients across care communities.
