Nuance and the The National Decision Support Company (NDSC) today jointly announced a strategic collaboration through which the two companies are leveraging the American College of Radiology’s (ACR) Imaging 3.0 tools, enabling radiologists and healthcare provider organizations to comply with current and emerging value based payments models, as well as simplifying the communication between radiologists and ordering physicians.
This will bring radiology back to the way in was 25 years ago, when radiologists and ordering physicians were in the same room consulting exams – but in the digital era. They can now look at the same information and get their questions answered easily and quickly in real-time, almost as if they are in the same room.
Through this partnership, Nuance and NDSC are helping healthcare providers do the following:
– Clinical decision support to physicians ordering imaging exams – By leveraging ACR Select physicians are guided to order the most clinically-appropriate exam for a patient while working within their native EHR workflow.
– Radiologists’ real-time consultations with ordering physicians – Nuance and NDSC have developed a channel for real-time communications between Nuance PowerScribe® 360 and ACR Select to make sure the most accurate exam is ordered, especially in complex cases when there is no definitive recommendation from ACR Select.
– Eliminating duplicate imaging exams – Nuance and NDSC have integrated ACR Select with Nuance PowerShare™ Image Sharing to help alleviate the problem of unnecessary imaging exams and reduce unnecessary patient radiation exposure.
– Clinical decision support for the highest quality diagnostic interpretation – PowerScribe 360 is being extended with ACR Assist, which will bring evidence-based guidelines directly to radiologists during the interpretation process to help with radiology reporting.
