HealthTap Global Rounds

Starting today, doctors can now earn official Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for socially collaborating and learning from fellow clinicians while providing invaluable solutions for challenging patient cases for free through HealthTap’s new Global RoundsTM platform. Global RoundsTM presents doctors with the latest peer-reviewed medical literature, readily available at their fingertips and relevant to a patient’s question or condition.

Now, doctors can also add insights from reading this peer-reviewed medical literature as they research patient cases. HealthTap Global RoundsTM is the only digital learning platform where doctors can collaboratively solve real patient cases with other top doctors while earning CME credits toward maintaining their licenses.

Virtual Space for Clinical Collaboration

Inspired by the clinical collaborative tradition of medical grand rounds in teaching hospitals, HealthTap’s Global RoundsTM has created a virtual space for collaboratively discussing and solving challenging medical cases. It is a virtual learning environment that takes real patient cases with unique complexities and challenges and enables a multitude of doctors across a wide range of specialties to discuss, collaborate, and create a collective knowledge base that is long-lasting and can impact the lives of many patients with similar cases worldwide.

How It Works

For example, a 33-year-old woman from Bloomington, Indiana with ongoing abdominal pain consulted multiple doctors and had subsequent exploratory surgery with no positive results. Frustrated by her inability to find a cure, she reached out to HealthTap and submitted her unique case, including pathology reports and photographs taken during her operation. Doctors in HealthTap Global RoundsTM were able to correctly diagnose a rare form of cancer and refer her to a qualified surgical oncologist who treated her and removed the cancer.

Benefits for Doctors & Patients

By enabling doctors to help millions globally while earning CME credits, HealthTap is expanding the world’s largest digital library of trusted doctor knowledge—with more than 3.7 billion doctor answers and tips served to date. HealthTap Global RoundsTM provides patients with the ability to submit complex medical cases for free.

For physicians, the platform is an opportunity to access high-quality, long-form content from their peers around the world from any mobile device or personal computer.

Clinician Feedback

“My patients look to me for the right answers to complex medical problems,” says Dr. Jane Van Dis, an OB/GYN in La Canada Flintridge, CA. “Global RoundsTM enables me to collaborate with and learn from other medical experts working through real clinical cases in real-time—all while having fun and interacting with some of the greatest minds in the world—so that I can provide better care to my own patients.”
